One model for making change is a set of synthesis strategies called SCAMPER (Eberle, 1997), with each letter standing for a strategy.

M=modify, magnify, minify.
P=Put to other uses.

The thinker arranges, blends, combines, integrates, tests, and adjusts the thought fragments until new pictures emerge.

These strategies work well to inspire thought about modifications to the arbor. They also work well when adapting an idea, a proposal or a project.
