Thoughtful choices require clear statements about criteria. In selecting a principal for a school, for example, we should have a list of traits that we hope to find in one of the candidates.

Traits and criteria work hand in hand. Traits are the attributes of the matter being considered while criteria set standards for selection.

Work with your partner to identify the traits of a good ship captain. Make a list of 6-10 traits in an Inspiration diagram.
