What kind of man was Matthew Flinders?

Most Americans have never heard of Matthew Flinders, but he is an important figure in Australian history - the first known European to successfully circumnavigate Australia.

A Captain in the British navy in the late 1700s, Flinders had a fascinating life.

Even though you may not have heard of him before today, you and a partner should be able to come up with at least ten suppositions or guesses, reasonable hunches or hypotheses about his character.
