The vultures circle once again

Having been here before
And heard the same words
Many times through history
In many lands
And many cities
The vultures circle once again
Knowing what’s coming
The blood
The gore
The feast that comes from folly
Men taunting men
Promising peace
While hurling missiles
Taunting the other side
And daring them to fight back
Sure they will cower and whimper
Back down in the face of shock
And awe
These men who do not read
Or heed history
Are condemned to repeat it
And the vultures circle once again
Remembering
Knowing
Expecting
The feast that comes from folly
