Sour Grapes

Bring them on
The red flags
The complaints and problems
The idiosyncrasies
Hang-ups
And annoying habits
I would usually ignore
In the beginning
In the flush of infatuation
And romantic urgency

Bring them on
So I can list them
Like armor
To shield my heart
Early on
From any pain
Rejection
And disappointment
Turning away from you
Appearing disinterested
Flirting with the sassy bartender
The sleek and sexy businesswoman
Settling next to me
Ordering a martini
Dirty
With olives

I am making a list
And checking it twice
No longer thinking
You are naughty or nice
