Pruning

Like a thicket
My dreams
Once a mass of wild roses
Blackberries
And morning glories
Overgrown
And running rampant
Going every which way
Helter-skelter
Pell-mell
These dreams
They simply
Needed pruning
A steady hand
Shearing
Cutting back
Untangling
And straightening
Snarls and thorns
Until a single rose bush
Burst forth then
Finally
Alone now
In full
And splendid
Glory
