Poetry by Jamie McKenzie

Now and then

We wait now
for the first touch
the first kiss
the warm embrace
the tenderness
and all that we have missed
but hungered for
long years now

We look far ahead
dusting off dreams
once forsaken
even forgotten
We begin to hope once again
Pushing aside any fears
Finding courage somewhere
we decide we can
and we will
make this happen
make this real

You take my hand
Now
And I take yours
In mine
And then we dance
Gliding across the floor
Like swans
Smoothly
Together
Now
And then
And forever
