This ain't no hoax!

This plague
This virus
This COVID-19
This ain’t no hoax
Ain’t no joke
Ain’t no flu
Just ask the dead and the dying
Their families
The front line workers
Nurses
And doctors

But even so
Some so-called leaders
Dithered
Denied
And fiddled
As it spread
Wasting time
Ignoring warnings
Leaving us unprepared
And vulnerable
Hoping for warm weather
The Easter Bunny
A miracle
Or snake oil
To save the day

The bully-in-chief
Standing at his bully pulpit
His new TV show
When challenged or questioned
Bristles
Prevaricates
And gaslights
He attacks
Condemns
And insults
Dodges
Weaves
And takes no responsibility
Of any kind
For anything that has gone wrong
For his many failures
Missteps
Mismanagement
And malfeasance

This so-called genius just keeps on lying
Exaggerating
And claiming victory
In the face of defeat
Complaining
Whining
Whinging
And whimpering
As the numbers climb
The stock market falls
And the Grim Reaper strikes
Repeatedly
Without pause
Reality TV
And bullies
Be damned

Preening like a peacock
Strutting obscenely
He goes on bragging of his ratings
His crowd size on FaceBook
And his followers
But shows no sign of empathy
Caring
Or concern
For the thousands dying
On his watch

To this man
Questions are nasty
And women are nasty
They’re ugly
Or they’re scum
While he is Prince Charming
The best ever
A very stable genius
Fond of pornstars
Dictators
And cheeseburgers
He is an evil clown
A bad joke
A fraud
And a two bit hustler
The true hoax
In charge of disaster relief

Unfit for office
Or military service
With imaginary bone spurs
He should go dance with the stars
This bully-in-chief
Here today
But we hope
Gone tomorrow
Like foul smelling
Flatulence
Floating off into the distance
Into the trash heap of history
Where he belongs
