On hold

In just two or three days
Everything changed
Like day into night
Light into dark
Black into white

In just one week
Planning
Dreaming
Hoping
and
Believing
Stumbled
Drunkenly

The sun did not notice
And kept on shining
There was no thunder
Or lightning
No dark clouds
No mist and fog
Rain or hail

Life went on
The weather was glorious
And no one noticed
No one heard the sound of life
Grinding to a stop
Like some huge steam locomotive
Suddenly braking

You disappeared
Without warning
Leaving me standing
Alone
Holding flowers
And dreams
No longer
True
Holding my breath
Wondering
Where you could be
And what I might do
With the flowers
And the dreams
Wilting
As I stood there
