A Day of PARCC (ELA) Preparation

Prepare your students for the demanding comprehension and inference questions that they will face when taking the PARCC tests.

In this one day workshop, Jamie outlines strategies to equip students with the powerful reading skills they will need to perform well. In addition, he will point out some of the unique technology skills that will be required to manage PARCC items on a computer.

Participants will bring their own wireless laptops or tablets as many of the activities will be hands-on.

A Day of PARCC (ELA) Preparation

8:30 AM  - 9:00 AM - Registration

9:00 AM  -  10:15 PM - Wrestling with sample items in order to identify the patterns of analysis and thinking required for success.

 

10:15 - 10:45 - Coffee Break

10:45 - 12:30 - A dozen reading and thinking strategies calculated to improve student scores and success.

 

12:30  -  1:30 PM - Lunch

1:30 PM - 2:00 PM - How to interpret videos for the PARCC test and handle the type of questions that will be asked.

2:00 PM - 3:00 PM - Preparing students for issues and challenges that arise with computer testing.

 

 

Costs

Conference Fee - $ 90.00 for those who indicate interest, register and pay during October. $110 for those who register and pay during November. Send an email to showing interest in attending. If we have 20+ by October 24, we will book the hotel.

Payment will be by credit card, PayPal, check or school purchase order. Discounts available for groups of 5 or more from the same school district.

In order to keep costs down, refreshments and lunch will not be provided.
